How to Design Your OWN Perfect Tea Blend

How to Design Your OWN Perfect Tea Blend

Have You Ever Wanted to Design Your OWN Perfect Herbal Tea Blend?

Sarah, the Master Herbalist here: I'm about to give you my easy 3-step formula! Of course, you don't HAVE to combine these elements. But putting it all together gives you a go-to daily blend to meet your unique needs and desires!

1. Choose a Nutritious Base

I love the nutrient profile of Alfalfa, Red Raspberry Leaf, and Stinging Nettles! Other great nutritious herbs for tea include Oatstraw or Milky Oat Tops, Tulsi, and Dandelion.
This should make up at ~50% of your tea blend if you are going for high nutrition!

2. Add Herbs for Your Desired "Action"

Tummy troubles? Ginger is a great one! Exhaustion from the demands of motherhood? Motherwort to the rescue! Wanting to calm down before bed? Chamomile and Catnip are some of my favorites.
Depending on what is needed, this can make up 25-75% of your tea blend. I often have my Nutrient Teas and my Action Teas and alternate between or mix them as desired!

3. Add Herbs for Flavor! (And Aroma)

Mints here (peppermint, spearmint, and lemon balm are most common), Citrus (lemon peels, orange peels...), Cinnamon (hello!), and even dried berries and other fruits can add fabulous flavor to tempt the most resistant drinker of herbal teas.
It doesn't take much of these lovelies to create the flavor you're looking for, but the percentage is adjusted according to taste 🙂.

BONUS: most of these herbs actually have all 3 of these super-powers!

For example, a simple Peppermint tea is strengthening to the whole body, calms the digestive tract and relaxes the respiratory system, and provides a delicious taste and aroma.
What is your favorite herbal tea combo or single herb to drink as an infusion / tisane / tea?
